Wastewater treatment plants

Our on-site sewage processing plants treat all domestic waste (including greywater and blackwater) to a specified quality, typically so that it can be re-used for irrigation or other non-potable applications. Designed to cater for a wide range of wastewater conditions, these plants allow for installation above or below ground, are quick to install and easy to operate.

How it works

What happens inside

1

Primary Treatment

Domestic sewage enters the primary settlement chamber (septic tank), which permits settlement and surplus sludge storage. Here gross solids are allowed to settle out under gravity and are gradually broken down by anaerobic digestion that allows a relatively solids-free effluent to be passed into the process stream.

2

Biological Treatment

Within the Bio-Mite reactor a Biomass of bacteria breakdown the biodegradable waste and convert it into carbon dioxide and water.

3

Final Settlement

The treated waste stream is gravity fed into the final settlement chamber. Clear water rises to the surface of the tank and is decanted at the outlet. Periodically, excess humus sludge is returned to the primary treatment.

4

Disinfection and Storage

After the waste stream has been treated, final disinfection occurs to ensure any remaining pathogens are killed. This is either done by
using chlorine or ozone. The treated effluent is then stored for secondary, non-potable re-use or disposed of as per local regulations.

Ideal applications

Households, hotels and lodges, camps, mines as well as any application where waterborne, on-site sanitation is required.

Key differentiator

Processes wastewater into non-potable water suited for irrigation or other non-potable applications.

Value proposition

  • Quick to install and commission, in most cases installation can be done in a couple of days
