Project Date

March 2007 (almost 20 years of continuous operation)

Overview

As Die Poort Primary School grew from 181 learners to approximately 500, its ageing sanitation infrastructure could no longer manage the increased wastewater load. Calcamite provided a reliable wastewater treatment solution that has supported the school’s growth for almost 20 years.

Requirements

The existing septic tank and soakaway system had become overloaded. The school required a compliant, sustainable solution capable of managing current wastewater flows while providing sufficient capacity for future growth.

Solution

Calcamite installed a modular wastewater treatment plant designed to produce high-quality treated effluent suitable for irrigation. The system was later upgraded as learner numbers increased and has been supported through consistent monthly maintenance from Calcamite’s local team.

Conclusion

After almost two decades of continuous operation, the system continues to deliver reliable wastewater treatment without requiring replacement. The project demonstrates the long-term durability, scalability and value of a well-maintained Calcamite solution.
